VOICE OF THE DAILY Mirror: A good cause.

GENUINE charity workers have been the unfortunate victims of Northern Ireland's paramilitary gangs.

Whether they are collecting for so-called prisoners of war or using other fronts, the result is public caution about giving cash to anyone.

So it's about time we had a watchdog to track down the chancers rattling their collection tins on street corners.

The genuine articles deserve our support and admiration for giving up their time.

It's also in their interests to have proper authorisation so that they can meet the eye of their donors with a clear conscience.
