VOICE OF THE DAILY MIRROR: The gift of life.
LAST year 420 people died needlessly. They were waiting for organ transplants but ran out of time.
Most Britons support transplants - a wonderful life-saving operation - yet only one in five has joined the register of donors.
This situation should not be allowed to continue. There should be a massive campaign to get people to sign up and carry a donor card.
If that does not work, the government must consider changing the law so everyone is a possible donor unless carrying a card saying they don't want to be.
It is only a matter of principle for a few. For many, it is a matter of life or death.
