VOICE OF SCOTLAND.

Bad sports are a devious pack

PRINCE CHARLES and his lot at the Beaufort Hunt should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves trying to fob us off with the excuse that hunts keep the fox population down - utter baloney.

Now there is proof that not only do the hunts rear them in artificial earths, but the vixen is often shot and the cubs fed to ensure plenty of foxes for the hunters. How sick can they get? - Jean Foster, Edinburgh.

Polite notice

I WORK in a high-pressure customer service environment and it amazes me how rude and aggressive customers are to deal with.

The person at the other end of the phone is a human being, with feelings, just like everyone else and civility costs nothing. It's a shame that more people don't realise this. - Mrs D. Jennings, Glasgow.

Turn coats

IT'S amazing how concerned the Tories can become about jobs when they're not in power. When they were in power, hundreds of thousands of jobs in coal, steel, engineering and shipbuilding went with their blessing. - P. Hall, East Kilbride.

Sharp kick

WHILE many of the Neanderthal 'Wha's like us!' mentality revel in the aftermath of England's thoroughly entertaining game against Portugal last week, let us not forget that such an outcome only came about because Scotland were not good enough to beat England.

Had we done so, I dread to think what the Portuguese would have done to our finest, or at least Craig's favourites. - Jon Mackenzie, Birmingham.

I AM so angry over the abuse David Beckham got after the England-Portugal match last week.

The boy doesn't deserve that treatment, he's a great player and a better dad and husband than the yobs who abused him. - Mrs A. Dick, Perth.

Water scandal

IT alarmed me to read about the deregulation of Scottish water. When was this decided and by whom?

I thought Scotland's water was protected and that it would never go into private hands - so what or who changed that? - Mrs N. Nicols, Cambuslang.
