VOICE MAIL PLUS DEVELOPS PUBLIC INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR WORLD CUP USA 1994, USING NATURAL MICROSYSTEMS MVIP/VBX 1200 VOICE PROCESSING BOARDS
TUSTIN, Calif., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Voice Mail Plus announces the development of a multilingual public information telephone service for use by World Cup USA 1994, Inc., the organizing committee for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The system was designed by Voice Mail Plus using voice processing software developed by TEK Data Group of Long Beach, Calif. The system is based on OS/2 and Natural MicroSystems MVIP (Multi-Vendor Integration Protocol) technology. The phone lines come into the system on a Digital Entrance Facility hook-up utilizing a T-1 connection. By using Natural MicroSystems MVIP/VBX voice processing boards the system is able to support up to 48 ports of voice mail and other voice processing applications in one chassis by simply adding additional VBX 1200 boards and specific applications software. It is currently being installed in Century City, Calif., and will replace a central office-based voice mail system as well as providing public information services in more than one language.
The system will provide callers with information on a variety of subjects, such as ticket prices and availability, game schedules, game scores, eliminations, directions to the stadiums and other general information of interest to World Cup Soccer fans and members of the press. The long-term goal is to expand the information provided on the system to include profiles on the teams and players participating in the 1994 World Cup and to add additional applications such as Fax and BBS support for alternative forms of access to the system. The system is now on-line.
Tom Kemp, president of Voice Mail Plus, commented, "World Cup presented a unique opportunity for us to combine MVIP and T-1 compatible voice processing equipment (from Natural MicroSystems) and highly configurable voice processing software from TEK Data Group, our sister development company. These components enabled us to provide a very capable and cost-effective solution that will be able to grow as World Cup's needs grow."
