VOICE INFORMATION CENTER INTRODUCED BY ADVANCED COMMUNICATION DESIGN

MINNEAPOLIS, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Communication Design, Inc. (ACD) will introduce the latest version of its Voice/Video Information Center (VIC) at the American Book Association annual show in Florida, May 29-June 1. VIC is an interactive, high-fidelity system that promotes books on tape, music CDs, and any other product that can be presented audibly. The system is simple enough to be used by virtually any age group.
"VIC is one of the most exciting retail promotion concepts to come along in a decade," Don Stein, vice president of ACD, recently told an audience of retail executives. "The product evolved from our original Preview Studio(TM) system, which now represents an installed base of several hundred stations operating in music stores nationwide."
By using a digital keypad and headphones, shoppers can browse through samples of recorded material and product information, available almost
instantly from VIC's vast library. As many as 12 shoppers can be using a single VIC system, each making independent selections and without slowing the system down.
The choice of listening locations and display design is left to the retail store, since the basic VIC system is extremely compact and can be installed in a back room or under a counter. Program content is controlled by the VIC customer, as well, allowing different products to be promoted in different areas of the country.
ACD supplies a turn-key package, including all required hardware, script preparation, professional voice talent, recording and editing of samples, program updates sent directly to stores, and on-site system maintenance. NCR, a worldwide computer organization, is negotiating with ACD to develop a total retail solution, from hardware and installation to financing and on-going support (see related news release).
The world's leading manufacturer of audio preview systems, ACD continues to pioneer new ways of applying digital audio technology to in-store retail promotions.
