VMX INTRODUCES FOUR NEW SOFTWARE PRODUCTS THAT ARE EASILY CUSTOMIZED
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- VMX (NASDAQ-NMS: VMXI), a worldwide leader in Integrated Voice Processing (IVP) systems and software, today introduced four new software products that represent a new product category for the company. The new products, called Template Worksolutions(tm), are software applications that are easily customized to improve operations and customer service in a variety of businesses. The basic designs of the templates are the same in every implementation, while their functional elements are tailored to meet the specific needs of individual organizations. The new software products demonstrate the importance of VMX's third- party Teamworks Program, a growing partnership with leading IVP software developers. Since the program's introduction in November 1990, over 35 organizations have partnered with VMX to develop software products and customize IVP applications. The Template Worksolutions are developed by the Teamworks Partners, who will also customize and support the new software products. "Our experience in delivering hundreds of IVP applications has shown us that our customers need a variety of applications from different sources," said Terri Brown, group product manager. "To date, the majority of installed Worksolution applications have been custom applications developed by the Teamworks Partners and end users. The installed base of Worksolution applications also includes prepackaged applications developed by VMX. Template Worksolutions are a third alternative that uniquely combines the flexibility of custom applications with the cost effectiveness of prepackaged applications." The new Template Worksolutions -- Benefits Enrollment, Data Entry, Survey Automation and Time Reporting -- were designed to run on the VMX(R) IVP platform. All four of the new Template Worksolutions take advantage of the touchtone telephone to enable callers to exchange information directly with databases. The Benefits Enrollment Template Worksolution has been implemented by large organizations to automate the employee benefits enrollment process. The application allows employees to use a touchtone telephone to access their benefits portfolios any time and confirm or update benefits options. The application helps reduce expenses, improve data accuracy and enhance the productivity of human resources personnel. The Data Entry Template Worksolution allows remote sites to use the touchtone telephone to report daily revenues and expenses to a central location. As an example, it is being used by one of the nation's largest privately held restaurant chains to consolidate daily sales deposits, expenses and payroll information. The application improves cash flow management, increases operational efficiency and cuts costs by allowing the organization to make accurate bank deposits on a timely basis, plan detailed budgets and forecast businesses trends. The Survey Automation Template Worksolution automates information gathering to enhance management decision making. It is being used by the Total Quality Management department of a Fortune 500 company to query customers and employees to learn how to better serve them. Using telephones to access the survey, participants can call at their convenience to respond to survey questions with touchtone responses and verbal comments to any question. As a result, the company is able to improve response rates and compile and present better information more rapidly. The Time Reporting Template Worksolution improves client billing and resource allocation for organizations with field employees. The country's leading provider of integrated learning systems for educational institutions uses the application to coordinate a nationwide network of over 450 Education Services employees. Using a touchtone phone, the service employees directly access the application by calling an 800 number, and then enter in the activities completed and the corresponding time spent with a client. The Worksolution saves the organization time, improves data accuracy and allows better decisions about how to allocate human resources. VMX and its Teamworks Partners have designed and implemented more than 250 Worksolutions across the U.S. and Canada. The Worksolutions are used in the financial, manufacturing, services, insurance and computer industries, colleges and universities, hospitals and government. Examples of widely used applications include account inquiry, where callers receive information on mortgages and other loans; help desk, used in customer service departments; data input/field service, which allows field service employees to enter data directly to a centralized database; and dealer locator, which directs callers to proper locations or sales agents according to zip codes.

The Template Worksolutions are priced according to the application and customization options. They range in price from $18,500 to $40,000. The price includes complete implementation and support services from VMX's Teamworks Partners.
