VMX ANNOUNCES INCREASE IN NET INCOME AND
REVENUES FOR FISCAL 1993 FIRST QUARTER
SAN JOSE, Calif. Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- VMX, Inc. (NASDAQ: VMXI) today reported that net income for the first quarter of fiscal 1993 was $1,208,000, or 5 cents per share, compared with net income of $627,000, or 3 cents per share, for the first quarter of fiscal 1992, a 93 percent increase in net income. Total revenues for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 1992 were $19,504,000, compared to $16,718,000 reported in the first quarter of fiscal 1992, an increase of 17 percent.
According to VMX Chief Executive Officer Pat Howard, "First quarter shipment levels were strong in several of our sales channels, including Federal Government agencies, National Accounts and the D.I.A.L.PRO(R) channel of value-adding resellers. In addition, the sales performance of the five wholly owned VMX Systems Companies exceeded our expectations during the quarter."
"We believe the demand for our Integrated Voice Processing (IVP) applications continues to grow. To date, over 200 of our nearly 10,000 system implementations have been enhanced with Worksolutions(tm), IVP applications that solve tactical and strategic business communication problems. We are also pleased with the early positive market reaction to our recently announced fax processing and e-mail notification capabilities just added to the VMX(R) platform."
During the first quarter ended Sept. 30, 1992, VMX systems were sold to new and existing customers that include Burlington Northern Railroad, Honeywell, Inc., Texas Utilities Electric Co., Comp USA, the U.S. Department of Energy and six Veterans Administration Hospitals. VMX, Inc.
VMX designs, manufactures and markets a complete line of Integrated Voice Processing systems and software. This product line provides for the functional integration of voice, data and image on a single platform, turning the telephone into a communications workstation. VMX products are sold directly by VMX's National Accounts sales force and distributed by VMX Systems Companies (VMX-owned subsidiaries), D.I.A.L.PRO Systems Companies (independent value-adding resellers) and OEMs in major markets worldwide. The company is headquartered in San Jose, Calif.
