VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski said at a news conference Thursday that there were conditions for holding elections and that elections would be held. He urged the leader of the largest opposition party to reconsider his boycott decisions because, "this is not a battle between Gruevski and Zaev, but a battle for Macedonia". At another news conference, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev reiterated their decision not to take part in the 5 June elections and appealed for establishing a broad civil front "for free Macedonia against Nikola Gruevski". He also said they were going to use all the democratic mechanisms at their disposal and taking to the streets was only one of them.
