 VITAL HEART SYSTEMS APPOINTS SENIOR EXECUTIVES
 TO MANAGE AND DIRECT SALES
 BOSTON/MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Vital Heart Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: VHRT) announced today the appointments of Robert Tatum as senior vice president, sales and H. Stephen Cookston as senior vice president, strategic planning. Both are newly created positions which will report to the president.
 Tatum will manage and grow the national distributor network established by the company in April. He will oversee the company's worldwide sales force as Vital Heart Systems expands its European distributor network. Tatum brings 26 years of experience in sales, operations, product development and medical technology. He has served in senior positions with Vitatron (acquired by Medtronic), General Electric, General Dynamics, Electronic Data Systems and Control Data. He is a board member of the American Electronics Association. Tatum received a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in international finance from San Diego State University.
 Cookston will assist in setting the course and direction of the company's growth. He will plan and direct the implementation of sales strategies as well as manage installation, applications training and customer service. Cookston offers 20 years of experience specifically in cardiovascular medical technology. During his tenure at Pacesetter Systems, Inc. as senior vice president, sales and marketing group, revenues grew from $8.0 million to over $50 million. He has held senior positions with companies such as: Cordis Corp., Coratomic, Contemporary Health Systems, Cardiosource and Hemaedics. Cookston received his bachelor's degree from Widener University in Chester, Penn.
