VITAL HEART SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES SECOND QUARTER AND SIX MONTH FINANCIALS

 BEVERLY, Mass./LA JOLLA, Calif., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Vital Heart Systems (NASDAQ: VHRTC) reported a net loss of $559,956 for the second quarter of 1993, or $0.02 per share compared to a net loss of $594,682 or $0.03 per share for the same period one year ago. The net loss for the first six months of 1993 is $1,390,265 or $0.06 compared to a net loss of $1,029,140 or $0.05 per share for the same period one year ago. Revenues for the first six months of 1993 are $9,616 compared to $239,325 for the first six months of 1992. The company announced second quarter revenues of $4,203 compared to $157,478 for the same period one year ago.
 "Our second quarter and six month financials were adversely affected by the inability of our major OEM manufacturer to meet previously planned ship dates. This has delayed by one calender quarter our plans to ship product under our new cooperative manufacturing program previously announced," stated G. Robert Tatum III, president and CEO.
