VISITORS TO RV DEALERSHIPS DURING MAY HAVE A CHANCE
 TO WIN A MOTORHOME
FAIRFAX, Va., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Lovers of outdoor travel and leisure may win a 31-foot motorhome, just by visiting a recreation vehicle dealership participating in May's National RV Open House event.
Hundreds of leading recreation vehicle dealers throughout the United States will be announcing open house dates during the industry's National RV Open House, an educational event to show consumers how recreation vehicle ownership can help them find the quality leisure time they seek.
All adult visitors to participating dealerships will be eligible to enter the national sweepstakes drawing for a 1992 model 31-foot Winnebago Brave motorhome, built on a Ford super duty chassis. The unit will be fully equipped, with a retail value of $55,000.
The winner will be announced at a June drawing in Washington conducted by the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association, sponsor of the nationwide event. RVDA is the national trade association of retail RV dealers who sell and service all major types and brands of vehicles.
For those just considering the possibilities of the RV lifestyle, the open house is a chance to learn about the different types of RVs, their affordability, their features and how they can be used for vacations, specialized hobbies, outdoor sports or retirement travel.
Individuals at every age are discovering the opportunities offered by the RV lifestyle. This includes young families who can enjoy campaign vacations in state and national parks, to mature RVers, who can follow the sun, visit far-flung family or travel with grandchildren.
RV is an overall term covering all types of recreation vehicles, from pop-up trailers and van conversions, through fifth wheelers and trailers, up to self-contained motorhomes.
Modern technology makes today's RVs a compact, self-contained home on wheels.
As the owners of such a unit roam far and wide, they enjoy an endlessly changing panorama of scenery and outdoor activities. Yet their familiar living arrangements are always at hand, for living, sleeping, cooking, dining and creature comforts -- providing a sense of luxury, snugness and well-being, which are unique to this mode of travel.
Each dealership is scheduling the days and hours of the event during May, so the public should check them before attending. Most firms are offering special events, including free seminars on RV ownership and use, as well as refreshments and drawings for prizes. Admission is free, and visitors are under no obligation to purchase anything.
Those ready to purchase a unit will find that many manufacturers have teamed up with the dealership to offer special open house deals and discounts. Those RVs with full sleeping, dining and bathing facilities qualify as second homes for federal tax deductions on interest payments.
Dealership personnel will explain the economics of RV travel, which compares favorably to other types of vacations, according to a recent study. Whether for an extended trip or a weekend getaway, RV travel can cost half to three-quarters less than other types of travel.
