VISA OPENS FIRST OFFICE IN ITALY
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Visa International has

opened its first office in Italy, a move reflecting the importance of that country to the booming international payment card business.
The new Visa office will serve all seven Italian Visa member financial institutions. Edvj Massazza-Gal, Visa's area manager for Italy, will head the new office located in Milan. Italy, where Visa has 3.4 million cards issued, has flourished in the payment card business during the past year, with Visa card sales volume up 79 percent from the same period a year earlier.
"Our business in Italy has grown enormously, and the country still holds great market potential," said Charles T. Russell, president and chief executive officer of Visa International. "Our new Milan office reflects a continuing commitment to serving our member financial institutions in Italy and to the continued growth of the Italian market."
Visa, with more than 9 million acceptance locations and 269 million cards issued worldwide, is the world's largest consumer card payment system.
