VISA APPOINTS TALLMAN TO HEAD GLOBAL PRODUCT AND MARKET DEVELOPMENT

SAN FRANCISCO, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Visa International today announced the appointment of Wesley C. Tallman as executive vice president in charge of global product and market development.
Tallman, 50, who was most recently executive vice president of product and market development for Visa U.S.A., assumes his global responsibilities immediately, with his staff also taking on international duties. Tallman also will oversee global promotional opportunities for Visa such as Visa's Olympic sponsorship. All Visa regions will continue to have substantial input into product and market development and will be responsible for regional marketing implementation.
"Wes Tallman's depth of experience will help Visa manage the significant growth it anticipates as it moves toward its primary objective of becoming the world's only global currency," said Charles T. Russell, president and chief executive officer of Visa International.
The company expects its 1993 card volume to approach $500 billion. Visa's worldwide market share is currently at an all-time high of 52 percent.
Veteran banker Tallman joined Visa U.S.A. in 1989 as executive vice president of debit products before being elevated to his most recent post as executive vice president of product and market development. Before joining Visa, he served for three years as chief operating officer of Paychex Inc., a national payroll processing company in Rochester, N.Y. Prior to that, Tallman worked for almost 20 years at Chase Lincoln First Bank in Rochester.
Visa International is the largest consumer payment system in the world with more than 10 million acceptance locations and 309 million cards issued worldwide, including 152 million in the U.S. Visa also has the leading global ATM network.
