VISA ANNOUNCES CONSUMER LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM FOR MAC USERS
 More than 1,000 kits distributed
SAN FRANCISCO, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Visa U.S.A. announced that "Choices & Decisions: Taking Charge of Your Life," is now available for use on Macintosh computers.
"Choices & Decisions has made a significant contribution to my life skills classes," said Barsha Elzey, chairman of the Terra Linda High School home economics department in San Rafael, Calif. "The multimedia program gives students the opportunity, in a non- threatening environment, to learn skills they'll need to manage their money and live independently. This puts them at a significant advantage when they graduate, and can be as valuable as anything else they learn in high school."
Visa U.S.A. reported distribution of more than 1,000 Choices & Decisions teacher's kits for IBM and compatible computers since the program was introduced in September of 1991.
Choices & Decisions is an innovative program that helps high school students learn the realities of financial decision-making. The interactive multimedia module includes a 12-chapter curriculum component, featuring a comprehensive teacher's guide, lesson plans, and exercises through which students learn decision-making analysis and real-life personal finance skills. Students will learn comparison shopping, applying for a loan, and managing checking and credit card accounts.
Through the use of a computer system, videodisc player and TV monitor, high school students can make financial decisions for on- screen characters and see the final outcome of their choices -- good or bad. In the process, they'll discover how to achieve their own financial goals.
With Macintosh availability, more teachers can access this simple, educational and entertaining program. Choices & Decisions is available on both Macintosh and IBM system formats and is offered by Visa member financial institutions to educators at no charge. Teachers can order Choices & Decisions, or receive more information by calling 800-235-3580.
Choices & Decisions was developed by Visa U.S.A. and a team of advisers from the education community, the National Consumers League, the United States Office of Consumer Affairs, and the financial community in response to widespread belief that high school graduates need better financial and consumer skills to succeed in life. LucasArts Learning, a division of LucasArts Entertainment Co., designed and produced the learning module.
Visa U.S.A., with more than 140 million cards issued in the United States and more than 9.5 million acceptance locations worldwide, is the nation's largest consumer card payments system.
