VILMA S. MARTINEZ ELECTED TO FLUOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 IRVINE, Calif. Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluor Corp. announced today that Vilma S. Martinez, was elected to its board of directors. This new board member will bring the total number of board of directors to 14.
 Martinez has been a litigation partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson in Los Angeles since 1982. Prior to that she spent nine years as president and general counsel for the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF).
 Before joining MALDEF, Martinez served as equal employment opportunity counsel for the New York State Division of Human Rights, in the early 70s and as a litigation associate at Cahill, Gordon & Raindel. She began her career in 1967 as a staff attorney with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
 Fluor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Les McCraw said: "We are very fortunate that Vilma Martinez is joining our board. She is an outstanding individual with a position of national prominence in both business and judicial communities, and we are certain that she will make an important contribution to Fluor's board."
 A vice-chair of the board of The Edward W. Hazen Foundation, Martinez currently serves on the board of directors of Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc.; Sanwa Bank California; Mexican-American Legal Defense and Educational Fund; Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society; and the People For the American Way.
 In addition, Martinez sits on a variety of advisory boards, including Sen. Barbara Boxer's Commission on Judicial Selection and the Columbia Law School Board of Visitors. She served on the University of California Board of Regents from 1976-1990 and as Chairman from 1984-1986.
 Martinez has received numerous honors and awards during her career. She was honored with the medal of excellence from both Columbia University and Columbia Law School, and was named distinguished alumnus at the University of Texas. She is a John Hay Whitney Fellow and received the Valerie Kantor Award for extraordinary achievement.
 Martinez received her law degree from Columbia Law School. In addition, she holds two honorary doctorate degrees.
