VIEWLOGIC SYSTEMS AND NETPOWER TEAM-UP TO DELIVER EDA TOOLS FOR WINDOWS NT

 SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- NETPOWER and Viewlogic Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: VIEW) announced today that Viewlogic, a leading supplier of powerful electronic design tools, will deliver its recently- announced Workview PLUS for Windows NT electronic design environment on NETPOWER's high-performance RISC PCs. Viewlogic will offer its full line of EDA tools on NETPOWER's RISC PC Series-100, with the general release of Workview PLUS for Windows NT in Q4 1993.
 Viewlogic is introducing Workview PLUS for Windows NT on NETPOWER's RISC PCs at the Design Automation Conference in Dallas this week. "We are excited that Viewlogic has made a commitment to support NETPOWER. Viewlogic provides a comprehensive set of solutions for electronic designers and is the EDA leader in supporting Windows NT. Viewlogic's Workview PLUS for Windows NT combined with NETPOWER's Powerful RISC PCs offer an ideal EDA environment," said Bob Miller, NETPOWER president and CEO.
 NETPOWER is the only computer systems company focused solely on providing high-performance, low-cost client/server computers and software to run Windows NT applications. The company offers both desktops and higher performance server configurations based on MIPS R4400 microprocessors. NETPOWER's products are targeted at providing the high performance of the most advanced technical workstations at PC prices. Key value-added functionality includes network interoperability and high-performance 2D and 3D graphics.

 Powerful tools such as Viewlogic's Workview PLUS for Windows NT demonstrate the superior performance of the NETPOWER systems for power hungry ECAD applications. Further, the full support of the MIPS RISC architecture by Microsoft ensures that all current Microsoft Windows NT applications will run without change. "The initial Workview PLUS for Windows NT applications on Intel were up and running on NETPOWER systems within a few hours of getting the system in-house," confirmed Viewlogic's vice president of engineering, Lorne Cooper.
 NETPOWER also announced that it will be purchasing electronic design tools from Viewlogic to develop its next generation systems. "We are running our company on NETPOWER systems using Windows NT in all aspects of our business. Since Viewlogic offers leading-edge capabilities for systems design and is the leading EDA vendor supporting Windows NT, Viewlogic is the ideal choice for NETPOWER," said Ed Frank, NETPOWER's vice president of research of development.
 NETPOWER will be using a broad array of Viewlogic's tools including ViewDraw for design entry, ViewTrace for waveform analysis, ViewSim for design simulation, and ViewTime for timing analysis.
