 VIEWLOGIC SYSTEMS, INC. NAMES LORNE J. COOPER VICE PRESIDENT,
 ENGINEERING, AND ELECTS WILLIAM J. HERMAN TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 MARLBORO, Mass., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Viewlogic Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: VIEW) today announced the appointment of Lorne J. Cooper, 35,to vice president, engineering, effective Nov. 16, 1992. Cooper is currently Viewlogic's vice president of product development and has been reporting to William J. Herman. Cooper will replace Herman who is leaving Viewlogic to become the president of Scopus Technology, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based software manufacturer specializing in customer information management. Herman also has been elected to Viewlogic's board of directors.
 Viewlogic, a leading provider of CAE systems to the EDA market, hasa long-standing business relationship with Scopus, an equity ownership position in the private company, and Herman had previously served asa director and Viewlogic's corporate representative as well.
 Alain J. Hanover, Viewlogic's chairman and chief executive officer, stated, "Will was one of Viewlogic's founders in 1984, and he has contributed much over the years to our success. We wish him well in his new endeavor." Hanover continued, "I'm pleased to have Lorne assume this very important job. Lorne has been with the company almost since inception and his extensive knowledge of product development and engineering, coupled with his many years of industry experience, have always been key assets to Viewlogic. As always, I know he will apply his experience, managerial ability and energy to this job, and look forward to seeing him continue to successfully manage our engineering efforts."
 Cooper, who joined Viewlogic in 1985, was previously manager of advanced development at Telesis, a company subsequently acquired by Cadence Design Systems, and prior to that was a lead developer of CAE software at Prime Computer. He holds a bachelor of science degree inelectrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
 Viewlogic's family of software tools automates the electronic design of programmable chips and electronic systems used in products ranging from computers to medical instrumentation to complex telecommunications systems. The company's strategy is to provide a high-performance family of tools that can be easily integrated with other development tools and operate on the widest range of UNIX and DOS-based workstations. This strategy has enabled Viewlogic to be one of the fastest-growing companies in the CAE segment of the EDA market.
