VIDEO LOTTERY TECHNOLOGIES REPORTS SECOND QUARTER EARNINGS PER SHARE OF $0.24

 BOZEMAN, Mont., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Video Lottery Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: VLTS) reports revenues and net income for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 1993. Revenues for the second quarter increased to $48.8 million from $24.4 million in the same quarter of 1992. Net income for the second quarter was $2.9 million or $0.24 per share, compared with $2.9 million or $0.28 per share, in the prior-year period. The revenue and net income amounts do not include the July receipt of $1.8 million by the company in connection with the settlement of a lawsuit. Average common shares outstanding increased to 12,285,971 in the second quarter of 1993, compared to 10,443,000 in the comparable 1992 period.
 The increase in revenue resulted primarily from $35.7 million generated by the company's on-line lottery subsidiary, Automated Wagering International, Inc. (AWI), which was acquired in June, 1992. Included in AWI's revenue is $8.3 million of revenue from the Norsk Tipping Lottery contract. The company continued to see strong shipments into Louisiana, South Dakota, Montana and the Canadian province of Alberta for the video lottery segment and AWI continued to see record jackpots in the states which participate in Powerball.
 For the six-month period, revenues increased to $88.1 million from $34.5 million in the prior-year period. Net income was $4.9 million, or $0.40 per share, compared to $4.1 million, or $0.40 per share in the same period of 1992. Average common shares outstanding were 12,285,671 in the six months ended June 30, 1993 and 10,352,900 in same period of 1992.
 The increase in revenues for the six months resulted primarily from $64.0 million generated by the company's on-line subsidiary, Automated Wagering International, Inc. and $17.5 of video lottery equipment sales, compared to $2.1 million and $25.1 million, respectively, in the prior year period.
