 VIDEO LOTTERY TECHNOLOGIES REPORTS REVENUES
AND NET INCOME FOR THE FIRST QUARTER OF 1992
BOZEMAN, Montana, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Video Lottery Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: VLTS), a leading manufacturer of video lottery terminals, today reported its first-quarter revenues and net income.
Revenues increased 8 percent to $10.1 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 1992, from $9.3 million in the first quarter of 1991. Net income for the first quarter was $1.2 million, or $0.12 per share, as compared to $1.3 million, or $0.18 per share, in the prior-year period.
The increase in revenues in the first quarter of 1992 was due to the commencement of video lottery operations in Victoria, Australia, and the continued increase in machine play in the company's route operations. Revenues for the first quarter of 1991 reflect the start up of video lottery operations in Atlantic Canada.
Selling, general and administrative expenses continued to increase in the quarter as a result of the increased engineering and marketing costs associated with the expansion of active and potential jurisdictions permitting video lottery.
The most significant effect on the change in earnings per share was an increase to 10,259,600 average common shares outstanding in the first quarter of 1992 from 7,118,000 average common shares outstanding in 1991s period.
