VIDATRON AND IBM ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF 'ELECTRONIC TRADE SHOW'
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Vidatron Interactive Services Inc.("VIS") a wholly owned subsidiary of The Vidatron Group Inc. ("Vidatron"), and IBM Canada Ltd. have announced the release of the "Electronic Trade Show" ("ETS"), a new multimedia kiosk and support software package that, according to BJ Mullins, president of VIS "will facilitate trade show business to business communications by allowing companies to electronically and interactively attend trade shows for a fraction of the traditional costs in time travel and personnel." ETS will provide trade show participants with a touch screen video presentation on a wide variety of sponsoring companies, as well as the opportunity to electronically exchange business cards with key individuals in the companies they select. The electronic business card exchange will allow the participant the opportunity to obtain further information, and will provide the sponsoring companies with a listing of qualified sales leads. IBM will own the copyrights to ETS, and IBM will grant VIS a mutually exclusive, worldwide four-year license to market ETS. Sales revenues for ETS worldwide during the four year license term will be shared 50 percent VIS and 50 percent IBM, except that IBM will have no share in any revenues generated by VIS in Canada. Revenues from the sales of future versions of ETS will be shared 70 percent VIS and 30 percent IBM. VIS will pay IBM a license fee aggregating $160,000 during the initial four-year term, following which VIS will hold a perpetual, non- exclusive license to market ETS worldwide without the payment of fees or royalties. IBM Market Development Manager Mark Watts, who co-created the concept with VIS, expects that "this significant new application of multimedia technology wil be felt beyond the trade show industry and may well re-define the way businesses reach new customers." -0- 9/13/93 /CONTACT: BJ Mullins, 604-681-9308/
