FURIOUS David Beckham has lashed out at critics for portraying his wife Victoria as 'a wicked witchThe England skipper erupted after the couple's former nanny claimed he had screamed and sworn at his wife.
Becks blasted Abbie Gibson's claims, telling a friend: 'One minute I'm being portrayed as some kind of uncaring monster then Victoria is meant to be the wicked witch of the west.
'I am sick of it. It's just people selling stories for money.' He told the pal: 'I'd never speak to anyone like that, never mind my wife. 'I'm sick and tired of everybody having a go at us just for being a normal couple. 'People can't seem to believe us when we say we're normal but we are'Normal people have rows,normal people have good days and bad.
'We're a happily married couple and are staying that way.'
The Real Madrid star's fury came as the couple were spotted for the first time since the Sunday newspaper claims were published.
After insisting their marriage was rock- solid, Posh and Becks yesterday went their separate ways - he to football training, she to the shopsThey put their marriage woes behind them to follow their two favourite obsessions, braving the public for the first time in 48 hours.
The Beckhams had stayed out of the public eye since Abbie claimed Becks told Victoria he wanted to end their six-year marriage.
Despite the revelations, Beckham, 29, looked carefree as he laughed and joked with his Real Madrid team-mates during a double training session.
And Posh, 31, put on a brave face and headed for one of Madrid's most exclusive jewellery stores.
She spent 30 minutes looking at gold rings and earrings for a special present for Beckham's 30th birthday.
Victoria is planning a pounds 500,000 birthday party for her husband at their sprawling Madrid mansion on May 9 and wants to find the perfect gift.
She wants to fill their home in an exclusive private estate with showbiz friends, including Sir Elton John.
They have admitted their marriage went through a rocky patch but insisted they are still in love .They are to sue Abbie for breach of confidence and the downmarket English tabloid which printed the story
