VERSAR ANNOUNCES RECEIPT OF CONTRACT
VERSAR ANNOUNCES RECEIPT OF CONTRACT SPRINGFIELD, Va., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Versar, Inc.
(AMEX: VSR), announced today that, as part of a team led by Stone and Webster, it has been awarded an environmental support contract from the Federal Regulatory Commission (FERC) which represents the largest contract of its type ever issued by the FERC. The $45 million procurement was awarded to the team comprised of Stone and Webster, CH2MHill, Versar and ERM to support the commission in the re-licensing of 173 hydroelectric plants throughout the country in 1992 and 1993. Versar is one of the principal subcontractors under this procurement.
Principal program activity will be the preparation of Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) required by the National Policy Act in order for the FERC to renew the licenses of each of the facilities. Versar's major contributions will be in the areas of ecological impact assessment; fisheries assessment, management and mitigation; water quality modeling and assessment; and EA and EIS preparation.
