VECTOR'S FOUNDER, WIEGERT, ANNOUNCES PLAN TO SOLICIT INVESTORS FOR BUY BACK OF COMPANY CONTROL

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Gerald A. Wiegert, founder, director and largest American shareholder of Vector Aeromotive Corporation (NASDAQ: VCAR), announced today that he will openly solicit private and corporate investors to undertake a buy back of the company. Mr. Wiegert said he and his management associates will "continue to fight an attempt by unqualified board members to take advantage of the shareholders and the company" he founded more than 10 years ago.
Mr. Wiegert, who raised $20 million in capital and designed Vector's aerospace engineered automobiles, the Vector W8 and Avtech WX3 series, contends that self-serving board members and an Indonesian investor conspired in a hostile offshore takeover attempt of the company. Mr. Wiegert plans to replace the board once qualified investors are enlisted to support his management plan. Several parties have expressed interest in Mr. Wiegert's reorganization plan and he is openly inviting additional interested parties to contact him.
Mr. Wiegert stated that he and his supporters fully expect to see him continue as the company's driving force. A judge's recent ruling in favor of the majority of the board of directors against Mr. Wiegert does not endorse the current board of directors' ability to run, monitor or manage the company, he said.
According to Mr. Wiegert, "My legal counsel believes there are several options available to prevail against the current hostile board."
According to Mr. Wiegert, the company is at a critical turning point in its climb to be America's premier builder of supercars. "I did not guide the company through a maze of financial, regulatory, and technical difficulties to turn it over to a board of directors that I believe is incompetent to manage and direct an automobile manufacturing company."
