VARIOUS ARTISTS The London American Label Year By Year : 1961 (Ace) THIS is the second release of a marvellous series of CDs featuring tracks released on my favourite 60s record label, London American.

It's no surprise to hear that this series is proving to be a big seller for Ace Records - and deservedly so.

Amongst the multitude of gems on offer on this 1961 compilation (many of which I bought as 45s as a rock'n'roll addicted schoolboy), are What'd I Say by Jerry Lee Lewi and Spanish Harlem by Ben E King.

There's Riders In The Sky from The Ramrods, More Than I Can Say by Bobby Vee, Timi Yuro's Hurt and Bobby Darin's You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby.

Among my other favourites are Ring Of Fire by Duane Eddy, So Long Baby from Del Shannon, The Ventures' Ram Bunk Shush, Johnny Burnette's Girls, Sweets For My Sweet by The Drifters and Cryin' by Roy Orbison.

CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD A Little More Time (Music Club Deluxe) DETROIT soul quartet Chairmen of the Board were the brainchild of Tamla songwriting trio Holland, Dozier and Holland.

The early 70s were the group's heyday, with seven UK top thirty hits, including Give Me Just A Little More Time and You've Got Me Dangling On A String.

Their other 45 rpm successes were Elmo James, Everything's Tuesday, Working On A Building Of Love, I'm On My Way To A Better Place and Finders Keepers.

This well put-together double CD package, incorporating 36 tracks in all gives you all the hits plus some standout album tracks.
