VANCOUVER STOCK EXCHANGE (VSE) SELLS ITS COMPUTERIZED TRADING SYSTEM
TO UK-BASED EUROPEAN SECURITIES TRADING NETWORK
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Vancouver Stock Exchange's computerized trading system (VCT), developed jointly with its New York software partner TCAM Systems, has been sold in the United Kingdom to a new London-based European securities trading network -- its fifth international sale.
The purchaser is Tradepoint Financial Networks, a company created by consultancy Bennett Waller-Bridge Wilson & Associates of London.
VCT is to be used for Tradepoint's automated order-driven market for the direct trading of equities and other financial instruments between professional financial institutions.
Recently rated No. 1 by McKinsey and Co. in a survey for the German Stock Exchanges, VCT has already been sold to exchanges in Venezuela, Mexico and Turkey.
Comments VSE President Don Hudson: "This sale, our first in Europe, will give the exchange and VCT a valuable profile in the important financial centers of the European Community. It also affords us the opportunity to enhance the system further and pursue other international markets."
Tradepoint Financial Networks, authorized last week by the U.K.'s lead regulator, the Securities and Investments Board, is designed to complement the London Stock Exchange quote-driven trading market.
Tradepoint Financial Networks is planning a listing on the Vancouver Stock Exchange via a prospectus, sponsored by LOM Western Securities. A conditional listing application has been filed with the British Columbia Securities Commission.
Because of the contractual relationship between Tradepoint Financial Networks and the VSE, the review of subsequent filings may also be processed by the commission.
