VAN ECK'S WORLD INCOME FUND NUMBER ONE PERFORMER FOR 5-YEAR PERIOD
NEW YORK, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Van Eck World Income Fund was the top performer for the five year period ended April 30, 1992 among the 11 world income funds in existence since that time, according to Lipper Analytical Services.

In addition to a high rate of return and a current 30-day yield of over 8 percent, the Van Eck World Income Fund has maintained a comparatively low level of volatility. "The key to our success has been the correct judgment of interest rates and currencies," states Klaus Buescher, portfolio manager of the fund. "We invest primarily in high quality, government issues."
The World Income Fund is currently over 60 percent in European bonds, reflecting Buescher's view that European interest rates will remain high for several months and the U.S. dollar will weaken once again as optimism regarding a U.S. recovery falters.
The Van Eck Organization has been investing worldwide since 1955, offering the first global mutual fund to U.S. investors that year. Today, our investment professionals, with an average of over 20 years' experience, manage approximately $1.2 billion in our two areas of expertise: global investment and gold and natural resources investment.
