According to J.M. Wayne Code, president: "The economic conditions last year substantially reduced the amount of purchases made by many of our major customers. In this new calendar year, we are seeing the level of sales increase as many of those customers begin to make expenditures for plant maintenance and repair. The company continues to contain operating expenses, while aggressively marketing its products and services, having just released the largest and most comprehensive four- color catalog of safety products in the industry. Our 'in-plant' safety store concept is also expanding steadily, with new facilities for large clients in Bakersfield and Carson, Calif., opening in the quarter. Several more stores are in the final negotiation stage."
Vallen Safety Supply Company, the distribution subsidiary, sells a wide variety of industrial safety and health products designed for the protection of the individual worker, his workplace and the environment. Vallen Safety now operates 38 locations throughout the United States and has an additional 11 facilities located in customer plants.
