VAC SYSTEM INDUSTRIES WINS $25,000 CHINESE CONTRACT

 ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Vac System Industries, Apple Valley, Minn., manufacturers of equipment used to clean and decontaminate HVAC systems in commercial buildings, has won a $25,000 contract from Dong Fang Hotel Group in southern China for equipment and training on the system. Vac System Industries will meet with hotel and state trade officials on Thursday, Sept. 9, at the World Trade Conference Center in St. Paul.
 Following the meeting, Vac System Industries will give the Chinese buyers basic training on equipment operation and applications. Doug Groen, the company's president, will travel to China at the end of the month to provide additional training on the use of the system.
 "We found that our ability to offer customized training based on their needs at their site was an important selling point in our package," Groen said.
 This sale is not the first foray into foreign markets for the six- year-old company which employs 15. The company also has exported equipment to Belgium and Spain.
 "Vac System Industries manufactures the type of product that is in demand in many international markets where countries are focusing on improved air quality," according to George Crolick, executive director of the Minnesota Trade Office. "The company has been successful because it evaluates the market needs and is committed to the export process."
 Vac System Industries also is an environmental contractor, providing cleaning and decontamination of commercial HVAC systems to companies in the upper Midwest.
 China is Minnesota's 23rd largest export market, importing $46 million in Minnesota products in 1992. Industrial machinery dominates the exports to the country. An estimated 200 Minnesota companies have exported to China.
 The Minnesota Trade Office, a division of the Department of Trade and Economic Development, provides export finance, counseling and education services for Minnesota companies.
