VAALCO ENERGY INC. ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT HOUSTON, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- VAALCO Energy Inc.
(Vancouver: VEI) announced the appointment of W. Russell Scheirman II as president of the company effective July 1, 1992. Scheirman joined VAALCO in March 1991 as executive vice president, chief financial officer and a director.
Scheirman graduated summa cum laude from Duke University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1977 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa honorary fraternity. He also received an master of science degree in mechanical engineering from Duke University under a James B. Duke Fellowship. In 1984, he earned a master of business administration from California Lutheran University. Scheirman was employed by Exxon Company, USA for seven years during which his responsibilities included reservoir engineering and planning assignments in Houston and the West Coast. He then spent five years in investment banking specializing in financing and debt restructuring for exploration and production companies and oil service companies. Prior to joining VAALCO, Scheirman served as a consultant in the Energy Practice Section of McKinsey & Company. Scheirman replaces Virgil A. Walston, Jr. who will remain a director of the company and president and chief operating officer of Alcorn International Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of VAALCO Energy Inc. -0- 6/30/92 /CONTACT: W.
