V3 Announces PCI Card for TeraLogic's Cougar DTV Platform.

SANTA CLARA, Calif./TORONTO, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1999--

V3 Semiconductor (NASDAQ: VVVI) announced today that TeraLogic, Inc. will offer V3's Hurricane PCI card in their Cougar DTV reference design. TeraLogic's Cougar Platform incorporates V3's Hurricane PCI card along with other hardware, software, and peripherals for fast time-to-market and design flexibility. This advanced development platform offers multimedia capabilities. It is ideal for designing PersonalJava, Open Cable and Windows CE compliant set top boxes, Digital TV sets, and DTV/PC products.

The Hurricane PCI card features V3 Semiconductor's "Hot Swap Ready" V320USC-75LP chip. This is a PCI system bridge controller that directly supports MIPs and Hitachi SuperH 32/64 bit microprocessors. MIPs vendors are best known for their performance edge in the embedded market, targeted for products in media processing, graphics and consumer electronics. Hitachi is a leader in two markets: video games (Sega) and handheld computers, while they continue to successfully expand in digital cameras, automotive electronics and in the telecommunications markets. The V320USC is ideally suited for PCI applications such as Microsoft Windows CE, telecom, industrial control, and networking-internet and network appliances.

"V3's relationship with TeraLogic is significant, because it marks our two companies' position in the emerging DTV market, while at the same time it helps launch V3 Semiconductor's PCI Bridge Controllers into a new and exciting market segment. The joint V3 and TeraLogic initiative is expected to pay dividends as new customers adopt our cutting edge technologies," says John Zambakkides, President & CEO of V3 Semiconductor.

"Combining V3's high-performance Hurricane PCI card with our Cougar platform enables us to give our OEM customers a complete reference board for developing and testing DTV products," commented Mark O'Brien, Director of Business Development at TeraLogic. "The Cougar platform provides a time-to-market advantage by saving engineering teams months of hardware and software development efforts."
