Uzbekistani President signs order on preparation for celebration of Independence Day.

The President of Uzbekistan signed an order on preparation for celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the country's independence.

Islam Karimov gave an order to the special committee to come up with a program of activities that would promote the topic of "I love you, my dear Uzbekistan."

The program must pay particular attention to how the country has advanced "from a backward agrarian republic" to "the industrialized, modern powerful state."

The President ordered to reflect how the country's towns and villages are changing.

The program, according to Karimov, also need to capture the key moments of success in the spheres of health care, science, culture and arts, and sports.

As part of celebration of independence, the republican contest for the best song about independence will take place. Winners of the competition will be announced on the eve of the Independence Day.
