Uttarakhand fishermen adopt modern technology.
Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), Dec 25 (ANI): A new fish mincing machine installed on the campus of the GB Pant University which brought a new dawn for the fishermen in the region.
Fish mince produced by the machine is becoming popular among the people.
Many hotels evinced interest in subscribing to the machine-produced minced Fishes because it helps them prepare boneless fish dishes.
The small time fishermen appear the happiest lot. It is economic in that it saves money. Whole fish is used. The little waste a fisherman gets is used as the fish feed.
"We take out whole of the fish flesh and we mince it. Our basic purpose is to judiciously utilize, commercially less viable fishes. These fishes cost less in the market. These fishes are rendered for mince production," said Prof A K Upadhayay, Head of Department of Fish Processing department, College of Fishery, Pantnagar.
Earlier the fishermen sold their fishes in the market through the intermediaries.
"To get maximum productivity, these fishermen should start using the modern technologies. They should go for comprehensive improvement. So they can reap maximum benefit through direct marketing," said A P Sharma, Dean of G B Pant Agriculture and Technology University, Pantnagar.
According to the technicians, by using this fish mincing technology a new cottage industry can be established. This minced fish needs to be stored at -50 degree Celsius. By Vipul Goel (ANI)
