Utah Charity Adopt-a-Bed Now Accepts Online Brand Mattress Returns.

Salt Lake City, UT, September 26, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Adopt-a-Bed, a 501C3 nonprofit, is the first charity in Utah to accept bed-in-a-box mattress returns.

"When you buy a bed online, there's a trial period. If you decide you want to return your mattress, you need to find a charity to donate it to. Almost no charities in Utah will accept them, but we do both pick up and drop off," said Emma Petersen, founder of Adopt a Bed.

Anyone who wants to donate to a charity to get a refund for a mattress purchased online can drop off their mattress or arrange for a pickup at their home. As long as the mattress is returned within the sleep trial set by the company they purchased from (which is often 100 days), the customer will get a charity receipt that qualifies them to get a full refund from the mattress company.

"When you call a bed-in-box mattress company to initiate a return, the company gives you the option to donate your mattress to a charity. The problem is, almost no charities in Utah will accept a used mattress. Up until now it's been difficult to find anywhere that will accept them," said Emma Petersen, Adopt a Bed's Founder.

Petersen feels having a clean, comfortable bed gives people a sense of dignity. She sees people sleeping on the floor or on filthy beds because they cannot afford to buy a mattress.

Adopt a Bed serves those in need through their Buy One Give One program. When someone buys a mattress, one is donated. They go to the homeless, domestic violence shelters, refugee programs, veterans programs, halfway houses, low-income families, seniors and to meet immediate needs in the community.

Proceeds from retail mattress sales and donations go to buy new mattresses for those in need.

"You've heard of Tom's shoes and how they give a pair of shoes for every one they sell? This is the mattress version. For every mattress sold, Adopt a Bed donates a mattress to our local nonprofit organizations and individuals," said Petersen.

Many times donated beds are not the best quality. Through Adopt a Bed's gifting program, people get a quality bed that will last.

Adopt a Bed has a drop off location that accepts mattresses at their warehouse in Salt Lake City, or will pick up the mattress by appointment.

Brands accepted include online brands such as:

Purple mattress

Voila

Tuft & Needle

Leesa

Casper

Ghostbed

Saatva

Nest

Helix

Layla

Beds purchased on Amazon (note: Amazon may have a shorter sleep trial than the brand)

About Adopt a Bed

The bed in a box mattress industry has grown quickly over the past several years. Today there are over 100 brands. Mattresses sold online get shipped to your doorstep, sight unseen. They offer a sleep trial in which a mattress can be returned for just about any reason. A problem that many companies have is what to do with unwanted mattresses (they can't be rolled up again and shipped back). Adopt a Bed seeks to solve that problem through mattress drop off and pick up services, starting in Utah.

Many Utahns can't afford even a basic mattress. At Adopt a Bed we believe everyone deserves good sleep. Through our programs and community programs with such organizations as The Ronald McDonald House, Primary Children's Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, the VA Hospital and many more, we seek to meet acute and ongoing needs in our community by providing for those who lack, a good, clean bed.
