UnumProvident Hits the Road.

UnumProvident launched its America@Work Tour this summer to showcase and demonstrate its incomeprotection and return-to-work resources to brokers and managers.

UnumProvident hit the road with its custom-designed, 58-foot-long tractor-trailer, hauling the equipment it needed for an interactive "trade show" and a series of broker and customer forums in markets across the United States. The company focuses on integrated product offerings, benefits emphasizing return to work and highly responsive service-all strategies designed to significantly reduce employers' lost-time expenses while improving employee productivity and workplace satisfaction.

"This tour supports our ongoing commitment to making sure brokers and benefit managers understand our story," said J. Harold Chandler, UnumProvident's president and chief executive officer.

The custom-designed Amenca@Work Tour truck began its tour July 17 in Detroit and expects to end in San Diego in October. The tour included stops in Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, San Diego and Dallas.

The truck is expected to log more than 10,000 miles, and the 10-week tour is expected to draw more than 3,000 participants, including insurance brokers and corporate benefit managers. Activities planned for each city stop include a corporate overview from the CEO, regional insurance broker forums, product and service demonstrations, benefit managers seminars, local claimant testimonials and question-and-answer sessions.

The sessions center on trends in the workplace and how employers can take a holistic approach to employee benefits and absence management. Specifically, UnumProvident will demonstrate ways to increase employee productivity while reducing the direct and indirect costs of employee absence by examining contract provisions, work/life balance programs and return-to-work strategies that help create a workplace where employees are encouraged to stay at work or return to work after disability or related absences.
