Unjustified criticism on national institutions tantamount to patronizing criminals: Pervaiz.
ISLAMABAD -- Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid Friday said irrational and unjustified criticism on national security institutions was tantamount to patronizing criminal elements.
The minister, in a statement, said patronising or sheltering criminals and mafias by political elements was tantamount to supporting them, which was not only condemnable but aimed at impeding the ongoing operation to eliminate them.
The national security institutions, he said, were apolitical as they were apprehending criminals without any discrimination of their political affiliation. The cases against such criminals would be decided by an independent judiciary. Every criminal would have an ample opportunity to prove his or her innocence in court, he added.
Lauding the security institutions for their efforts to restore peace and rid Karachi of the organized criminals, he said the law enforcement agencies were striving for transforming the mega city again into a "City of Lights".
He said the national institutions enjoyed the support of democratic forces, civil society and media in their endeavours.
