University inks deal to be part of global study.

A LOCAL university has been chosen to be part of an international study on higher education.

The Bahrain University Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research signed a research agreement with the UK-based British Council.

Under the agreement, the university will carry out a scientific study on the policies of higher education in the world, measuring the levels of development using 37 indicators, covering countries in Africa and South America.

"The study is the third phase of a global research project covering the policies of higher education in all continents of the world," said dean Dr Mohamed Qader. (This) is a unique experience, and will open the door to winning other contractual research with several bodies, such as European organisations."

The team will be led by assistant professor at the deanship Dr Nada Khalil, along with College of Arts English language department assistant professor Halima Al Aali and English Language Centre lecturer professor Hajer Ali.

"This project will give the deanship experience and added value," said Dr Khalil, who is the director of the research team.
