University's former boss dies.

THE former head of a Welsh university has died.

Professor James Lusty, was the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wales, Newport and former Chairman of Higher Education Wales.

He retired due to ill-health in 2006 after four years in the Newport job.

Paying tribute to Professor Lusty, Dr Peter Noyes, the University's vice-chancellor, said: "We were very sad to hear that James has passed away.

"His contribution to the university and community is well recognised and all will miss him greatly."
