Universal Tester Needs No Separate PC.

A new universal testing machine for plastics, film, and packaging features an integral display that gives a readout of peak force (in tension, compression, or flexure), elongation, TEA, and calculated statistics (means, standard deviations, etc.) without connecting to a PC. Available from Testing Machines Inc., Islandia, N.Y., the self-contained model LTL 2.5kN is suited to factory-floor production testing. (A PC connection is still possible via RS232 port.) Test parameters are entered through the control panel in a menu-driven format. This compact, single-column benchtop unit offers force-measurement ranges to 562 lb.
