United get a Kickz out of success.

NEWCASTLE United Foundation's Kickz Project staged a regional football competition.

Teams from Newcastle United, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hull, Liverpool, Everton and Blackpool all made the journey to Tyneside for the under-15 and under-18 competitions at Complete Football in Gosforth.

It was the teams from United which proved to be the eventual winners, taking the under-15 title after beating Blackpool and overcoming Everton in the under-18 final.

Along the way the United under-15 squad recorded wins against Blackpool, Sunderland, Liverpool, Everton and Middlesbrough.

The highlight was a 6-1 result against Liverpool.

The under-18s also remained unbeaten with victories against North Shields, Everton, Middlesbrough and Blackpool and a 5-0 win against Sunderland.

They will take on their next football challenge next month in a tournament at the Harrogate Army base.

Teams from Manchester United, Wolves, Hull City, Sheffield United and the Army will compete.

Kickz helps young people in Newcastle achieve goals through football.

Funded by the Premier League and Newcastle City Council, the Foundation delivers weekly football sessions at Westgate Sports Centre, Blakelaw Park and Powerleague North Shields. A range of alternative activities and workshops also take place throughout the year.
