United States : ZIEBEL secures fibre optics sensing contract with CONOCOPHILLIPS.

Norwegian well intervention specialist Ziebel has secured a fibre optic sensing contract with ConocoPhillips in the United States.

The deal includes the provision of Ziebel s distributed fiber optic (DFO) intervention services for investigating unconventional reservoir behaviour in the continental US during the first quarter of 2015.

Under this deal, Ziebel will be using a purpose-built, trailer-mounted Z-System, which uses fiber optic composite rod technology for accessing and visualizing wellbores in real-time. Its main focus will be ConocoPhillips horizontal wells during the campaign.

Ram Shenoy, chief technology officer of ConocoPhillips, said, The ability to access and visualize the entire wellbore in real-time in challenging well environments has the potential to increase production from our existing assets through enhanced understanding of our reservoirs.
