United States : WISCONSIN granted funds worth almost $12 million for upgrading freight rail facilities.
Wisconsin s freight rail system plays a major role in our state s economy, moving raw materials to industry and finished products to markets, stated Scott Walker, the Governor of Wisconsin. These awards will help support economic growth in communities across our state and help ensure Wisconsin remains open for business.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is offering six loans worth $6,118,595 via the Freight Railroad Infrastructure Improvement Program (FRIIP), while $5,836,763 worth of two endowments is being allocated under the Freight Railroad Preservation Program (FRPP) of the state.
One FRPP funding was granted to Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad for replacing old bridge alongside mainline amid Green Bay and Michigan State Line.
The FRIIP award comprises a $1.5 loan to Landmark Services Cooperative to build a 730,000 bushel capacity grain storage bin at its facility near Evansville, Wis.
Moreover, the FRIIP consists of a loan of $610,000 for building a rail siding and load out facility together with a liquid fertilizer storage reservoir with one million gallon capacity.
Apart from this, the FRIIP involves a loan to Sharratt Warehousing and Distribution of $1,779,000 for a rail siding and loading facility.
