United States : WABTEC CORP signs PTC pact with South Shore Line operator worth $30M.
Wabtec Corp. has inked a $30 million deal to render positive train control (PTC) device and services for the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, that runs the South Shore Line operating from Chicago to South Bend, Ind.
Wabtec officials said, the pact is with Parsons Transportation Group, that will serve as the system integrator.
In the pact, Wabtec will deliver its Interoperable Electronic Train Management System (I-ETMS) device, and also TMDS dispatch and back office systems that will comprise interfaces to the traction power system, wayside design, training and associated services.
Wabtec officials said, the system will be entirely inter-operable with Metra's PTC system.
The deal is hoped to be finished in 2018.
Wabtec President and Chief Executive Officer Raymond Betler said, "We have worked with Parsons for several years to develop and design various commuter PTC programs, and we are pleased to work with them on this implementation."
