United States : U.S. Secretary of Navy inks energy agreement with PURDUE UNIVERSITY.

On May 8, Thursday, U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Purdue University President Mitch Daniels will ink cooperation agreement between the Department of the Navy and Purdue.

Under the agreement, the parties will further develop and bolster existing research ties designed to boost and implement alternative energy resources.

Slated for 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, the signing ceremony, will take place in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall on the Purdue campus and will welcome the public.

The 75th Secretary of the Navy, Mabus heads America's Navy and Marine Corps. He gives priority to energy and energy security, as Secretary of the Navy.

After taking office in 2009, Mabus set a strong goal for the Department of the Navy with the aim of ensuring that, the Navy and Marine Corps would source at least 50 percent of their power from alternative sources, by no later than 2020.

To achieve this goal, he has asked the Department of the Navy to change how they use, generate and purchase energy.
