United States : Oracle Empowers Developers with New Enablement Resources and Events.
Developers want to build cloud native applications using the latest technologies such as spark, Kafka, serverless, Kubernetes and Tensorflow. Oracle is constantly exploring new tools and libraries to drive this innovation, said Siddhartha Agarwal, vice president of product management and strategy at Oracle. With todays announcements, Oracle is giving developers even more resources to stay up to date and build the next generation of software automation in the cloud.
Designed specifically for developers, Oracle Code events provide insights and best practices for tackling development challenges and opportunities in the cloud. Over the last six months, Oracle held 20 Oracle Code events around the world, hosting more than 10 thousand attendees. In a survey, 88 percent of attendees said they would recommend attending Oracle Code events to a colleague. Keynotes, technical sessions and hands-on labs led by industry luminaries, community members and Oracle experts will feature sessions on emerging technologies from chatbots and machine learning to containerization and Java. New worldwide Oracle Code events are planned for 2018.
Oracle is committed to providing developers an open, modern and easy to use cloud development platform. To help developers stay on top of the latest architectures, methodologies and tools available, Oracle is expanding its online developer portaldeveloper.oracle.comwith more technology-specific pages dedicated to databases, Java and containerization. As such, developers have a centralized resource to gain new knowledge that will aid in the development of next-generation applications.
Oracle Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) also provide a free and flexible way for developers to learn about Oracle technology. They are created by Oracle product experts, and delivered digitally through a combination of videos, hands-on lab guides, quizzes, and course-specific discussion forums. Upon completion of each MOOC, learners earn digital badges that can be showcased on their social networks.
Oracle has a long standing commitment to open source and has invested significant resources in developing, testing, optimizing, and supporting open technologies such as Kubernetes, MySQL, GlassFish, Java, Linux, PHP, Apache, Eclipse, Berkeley DB, NetBeans, VirtualBox, and Xen. A Linux Foundation platinum member since 2008, Oracle serves on its board of directors and participates in a number of Linux Foundation projects, including the Open Container Initiative (OCI), Xen Project, Hyperledger, Automotive Grade Linux, and the R Consortium.
