United States : ONGOING drive for HACKENSACK to televise its meetings gets renewed.

With hopes to boost transparency in local government, residents have renewed an ongoing drive to televise Hackensack City Council meetings at the June 11 council meeting.

Regina DiPasqua a resident s, question on the progress the city has made toward broadcasting meetings echoes the civic disquiet in the aftermath of former Police Chief Charles "Ken" Zisa s conviction in May.

She said : "Just an observation if these meetings were televised, and if you all spoke out at these meetings, you wouldn t have to worry about being misquoted in the paper. "

She added : " You are thumbing your nose at the citizens in yet another way."

In previous meetings Mayor Jorge Meneses has noted that council members John Labrosse and Marlin Townes have even suggested possible vendors who could televise the meetings.

City residents have been urging the council to televise its meetings since two years.
