United States : NORTHROP GRUMMAN to hire 20 engineers for $31.2 MILLION contract.

Washington, D.C-based Northrop Grumman Corporation declared that it has been awarded a contract worth $31.2 million for the upgradation of software and equipment at five ground stations for the Army s missile defense system from the Army Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, Ala.

In a bid to complete the contract, the company is planning to employ approximately 20 engineers split between Colorado Springs and the Los Angeles area.

Ron Alford, director of Northrop Grumman s Sensor Exploitation Systems operation, which is part of the company s Electronic Systems Sector stated that around 90 out of 450 employees of the company s Electronic Systems Sector office in the Springs will be working on the contract, while further 15 to 20 systems, software and hardware engineers will be hired locally and in Azusa, Calif.

As per the contract, the work is scheduled to be finished by Feb. 24, 2014.

Alford said, We are excited to be the recipient of this contract and continue our long-standing support of the Army on a program we have been the incumbent contractor since 1994.
