United States : Harken Health Insurance to withdraw application to open in South Florida.

Harken Health Insurance is planning to would withdraw its application to open in South Florida next year.

Harken announced that will open in Florida, in May.

Florida regulators told Harken on June 23, that provisions of its application failed to meet Florida law. However, they said they would keep the filing open if additional information is submitted.

Harken withdrew its application subsequently.

Jeff Shoemate, chief marketing officer for Harken, said the firm still wants to open in South Florida, but will instead focus on its current markets in Atlanta and Chicago.

Shoemate added, "Harken believes people in South Florida could benefit greatly from our innovative model, and we look forward to offering access to those services as part of future expansion."
