United States : HANESBRANDS announced plans to invest $1.5m to boost its capacity.

Hanesbrands, an American clothing company based at Winston-Salem in North Carolina, has made an announcement on its new investment strategy worth US$1.5m to expand and upgrade its Clarksville, Arkansas, sheer hosiery facility to replace the offshore outsourcing.

The company has revealed that the new investment will facilitate creation of 120 new jobs, with average yearly CTC of around $39,000.

According to Hanesbrands, there will be installation of new machinery as well as transfer and improvement of its present packaging and dyeing operations under the project, which will enlarge the production capability of the company.

The Clarksville facility, which has already established itself as one of the world s biggest knitting plants, now operates with a fleet of 450 employees for Hanesbrands, a worldwide seller of basic apparel under brand names of Hanes, L'eggs, and Just My Size, among others.

The Mayor of Clarksville - Mark Simpson stated, HanesBrands has been an outstanding corporate citizen in our community for so many years, and this expansion will help the well-being of our community and contribute to continued long-term steady growth.

Hanes, in contrast to other apparel makers, manufactures the most of its products in its own facilities in its global supply chain. The company, for North America, now divides the finishing and packaging of knit hosiery between Clarksville for mass retailers and an offshore contractor for department stores.

After the accomplishment of the expansion project, the company will carry out finishing and packing works in Clarksville, one of the biggest knitting facilities in the world.

The Plant Manager Cathy Stalcup revealed, The hosiery business has been impacted for more than two decades by workplace trends away from formal dress to casual business attire, but our employees commitment to flexibility, knowledge of automation and dedication to quality and safety has kept the Clarksville plant at the forefront of global competitiveness.

The company has carried out expansion at the facility in the last ten-year period, comprising the amalgamation of product development labs for hosiery and seamless apparel.
