United States : Governor awards $87,000 to help Hartford company expand, create jobs.

Eighteen new jobs are coming to Hartford with the expansion of the Air Performance Inc. facility aided by an $87,000 Community Development Block Grant awarded by Gov. Kay Ivey.

The grant will enable the city of Hartford to extend public water and sewer service to serve a new 37,500 square foot facility just south of Air Performances existing plant. Once completed, the expansion will double the production capabilities of Air Performance which specializes in fabricating louvers, sunshades and aluminum parts used in the construction industry.

It is a great day when an Alabama company expands operations and creates new career opportunities for hard-working Alabamians, Ivey said. I am pleased to play a role in this project to bring these new jobs to residents in Hartford and Geneva County.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Economic development is a top priority for Gov. Ivey, and this expansion means new 18 jobs in the Wiregrass ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. Under the governors leadership, ADECA is pleased to work with state and local partners to provide the infrastructure that is critical to Air Performances expansion.

ADECA administers an array of programs supporting law enforcement and traffic safety, economic development, energy conservation, water resource management and recreation development.

Ivey notified Hartford Mayor Jeff Sorrells that she had approved the grant. Hartselle is contributing $20,000 toward the projects completion.

Ivey, Boswell and Sorrells joined other state and local leaders and company officials to break ground on the expansion project Wednesday morning in Hartford.
