United States : Governor Walker Lowers Flags to Honor September 11 Victims.
Governor Bill Walker today ordered all Alaska state flags be lowered on Sunday, September 11 in honor of Patriot Day and the nearly 3,000 Americans who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. This directive coincides with a proclamation from the White House recognizing Sunday, September 11, 2016 as a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance, and an order to lower all United States flags for Patriot Day.
September 11, 2001 is a day many of us will never forget. Whether we lost a loved one or simply grieved for our country, the tragic events that occurred on that day will forever be remembered, said Governor Walker. I encourage all Alaskans to observe a moment of silence this Sunday in honor of those precious souls who were taken from this earth too soon, and the brave first responders who ran into danger to provide safety and security during a time of unrest. Their heroic actions will never be forgotten.
Per the Presidents proclamation and Governor Walkers order, all United States and Alaska flags should be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
